The League of American Bicyclists announced this week that Manhattan, KS is a bronze-level bike-friendly community. There are only two other communities in Kansas with this designation (Lawrence & Shawnee). Kansas ranks 23rd among all U.S. States in bike-friendly status.

This designation is due in part to all the hardwork from the Bicycle Advisory Committee, Flint Hills Area Bike Club, The Pathfinder, Big Poppi Bicycle Co and city staff. Thank you to everyone who helped!

Recently, Manhattan has:

  • Created the first bike boulevard in the state
  • Sponsored Bike Week to encourage and educate citizens on routes and safety
  • Proposed the Five-Year Strategic Plan to implement bike-friendly infrastructure
  • Hosted several bike rides and races
