Dreaming of Bicycle Boulevards

As I have been burying myself in all the latest research on liveable streets and bike-friendly communities, I find myself dreaming of Bicycle Boulevards for Manhattan.  These are low-cost, low-traffic, low-speed, bike-friendly boulevards that are liveable and safe to ride, inviting even the most cautious riders to enjoy a bike ride and take up bicycle commuting.  They are now being widely adopted in the most bike-friendly cities as the low-cost solution to bring biking more mainstream, alleviate traffic congestion, and improve the overall liveability of their communities.  I think they are perfect for Manhattan.

To learn more about Bicycle Boulevards, watch this excellent short film from Streetfilms:

And if you are as hooked on the idea as I am, dream about them while listening to this great song:

Great Job Portland. Portland is seeing the future. I think many US cities have much space in the streets for cars that can be reutilized for bikes. My great concern…the winter.
